At Dell, your right to privacy and security is a major concern. Below are the guidelines we use for protecting your personal information. Please read the following carefully.

Dell's Privacy Notice

Dell respects your privacy. Across our business, around the world, we will collect, store and use your personal information for defined purposes. We use your information to support and enhance our relationship with you, for example, to process your purchase, provide service and support, and share product, service and company news and offerings with you. We do not sell your personal information, but we may share your IP address with advertisers on Dell sites. The Information Dell Collects About You

Dell asks for specific types of personal information. We ask you to provide information that will enable us to process your purchase or provide services to you, enhance your site visit, respond to requests for information, support your relationship with us, assist you with technical support issues or to follow up with you after your visit.

Dell may collect information when you interact with us. Some of the instances when this happens might be when you:
  • Register or visit a Dell website
  • Request us to provide you with a quote;
  • Place an order with us;
  • Request e-mail notification from us;
  • Request assistance from our online advisors;
  • Make a request for support either online or by telephone;

  • in the case of job applicants, previous employers

When you interact with us, we may ask for some of the following information: your name, address, e-mail address, IP address, phone number, occupation, National Identification Number, industry, transactional information such as your preferences, customer and service tag number, service history, credit card information and other bank details, referrals, and other information that is needed to process your transaction or request. We may also collect demographic information such as details of your business or company, age, gender, interests, preferences and favourites, and product purchase history. For job applicants, you may be requested to provide information such as educational background, employment experience, and job interest.

We may collect information relating to your online interactions with us (including, for example, your IP address, the pages you view, Dell's website links and Dell's advertisements that you click on) so that we can offer you a more consistent and personalised experience in your relationship with Dell and better serve your needs by customising the content, services and marketing material that we share with you. We may use your personal information, including browser and purchase history to make recommendations to you and send customised communications via various communication methods, including email.

We hold your personal information in:
  • computer systems;
  • electronic databases;
  • digital archives;
  • telephone recordings; and
  • hard copy or paper files.

These storage mechanisms may be managed in a number of ways. These may be managed or administered internally by Dell and may be held locally, or, they could be managed by a third party with whom we have a contractual relationship to manage it locally or overseas. Dell uses your personal information for specific purposes

The information you provide will be kept confidential and will only be stored, used and disclosed for the purposes for which it was collected or as otherwise permitted by applicable law. It is collected and processed for the following general purposes or for other lawful business purposes:
  • To process your purchase or provide requested services;
  • To fulfil requests for products and services;
  • To improve our products and services;
  • To contact you;
  • To avoid fraud and other prohibited or illegal activities;

When Dell Will Share Your Personal Information

Your information may be shared with other Dell entities, agents or contractors performing services for Dell, such as Dell's Service Providers, marketing sub-contractors and financial institutions. If so, Dell will seek to ensure that your information is only used in connection with the functions these parties will be performing for Dell and that all such information is treated in a confidential manner.

Dell will disclose your personal information to the extent required or authorised by applicable law, if ordered or required to do so by a court or enforcement authority as appropriate, or to ensure that we are in compliance with our legal obligations.

Dell may transfer your personal information to other companies in the Dell group, such as Dell Inc. in the United States and third party service providers to the extent necessary to perform our functions or activities. Upon written request and within a reasonable period of time we will also amend, correct, delete or cease to process personal information if that information proves to be factually inaccurate, incomplete, or irrelevant to the purpose(s) of the processing

Internet Commerce

The online store offers you options for how your credit card information, name, address, e-mail, and any other information you provide us may be processed. Dell is committed to keeping the information collected on our site secure. We offer the industry standard security measures, called SSL encryption. If you would like to make a purchase, but do not want to provide your credit card information online, you may place an order without credit card information and a representative will contact you. Web Beacons

We, or third parties acting on our behalf, may use web beacons or related technology on our site, in our communications, on other sites, or in our communications in others' messages. A web beacon is an electronic image that can be used to recognise a cookie on your equipment when you view a web page or online communication.
